This training program, offered in partnership with Southern Maine Community College, is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary for advanced emergency medical care and transportation. The program includes lecture, laboratory, and clinical experiences.
Students will demonstrate proficiency in interventions such as patient assessment, airway management, oxygen administration, cardiac arrest management, shock management, medication administration, and emergency care.
The training provides an intensive review of didactic and psychomotor skills that simulate professional practice, along with a broad clinical experience to enhance skills.
Additional topics covered include ambulance service management, lifelong learning concepts, quality improvement, and the role of ALS providers in the community. Students will have opportunities to refine assessment-based management through case scenarios.
Upon successful completion, students will be eligible to take the National Registry Advanced Emergency Medical Technician Certification.
