Job summary

The Museum of Science in Boston is seeking an Electrical Systems Technician II to maintain and optimize the campus electrical infrastructure, including switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS, and life-safety systems. You will diagnose issues, perform advanced maintenance, and coordinate contractor work to uphold safety and reliability.

Qualified candidates will hold a Massachusetts Journeyman license or equivalent, have at least 5 years of electrical experience in large facilities, and

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary electrician training or apprenticeship completed.
  • Minimum 5 years of electrical experience in complex facilities.
  • Strong knowledge of 480V distribution, life-safety and controls.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and optimize critical electrical infrastructure across 750,000 sq ft.
  • Lead complex electrical troubleshooting and repairs with diagnostic tools.
  • Perform preventative/corrective maintenance on electrical systems and building controls.
  • Coordinate electrical shutdowns, replacements, and project work.
  • Provide technical leadership and oversee contractor work for quality and safety.
  • Respond to electrical emergencies and incidents, guiding safe restoration of operations.
