Job description

Advanced Distribution Instructor (Floater)

Base pay range: $90,000.00/yr - $115,000.00/yr

This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. This position reports to Frederick, Maryland but requires supporting the Williamsport, Maryland; Reading, Pennsylvania; and Whitehall, West Virginia Training Centers, with additional support areas as needed. Significant travel within the footprint is required.

Travel and location details: Significant travel within the footprint; willing to travel overnight when necessary; possession of a valid driver’s license and/or CDL, as necessary.

Responsibilities
  • Lead design, development, and implementation of training materials and programs for the Workforce Development team regarding Lines training.
  • Review and maintain knowledge of procedures and department background information; develop and administer new policies and practices related to the area served.
  • Develop and maintain communications to reflect changes in policies and procedures and incorporate these into the curriculum.
  • Maintain broad knowledge of learning technology; design and develop course plans; create training aids; conduct training programs; observe and evaluate student results to ensure effective instruction.
  • Explain Company policies relevant to training programs; ensure adherence to safety practices and procedures; create an appropriate learning environment.
  • Collect and analyze feedback from supervision and students; recommend improvements to training.
  • Mentor instructors through observation, provide feedback and documentation; observe post-training performance and provide evaluations and feedback.
  • Assist in training section administration: maintain materials, attendance records, coordinate training programs with related departments, and manage course/registration information for timely enrollment.
  • Submit required paperwork after course completion; communicate training activities and outcomes to supervision; complete projects by scheduled deadlines; propose alternatives when needed.
  • Support to coordinate work of higher classifications and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Associate Degree or higher with 4+ years of training experience, or Workforce Development approved Instructor Certification, or Journeyman level overhead line work skills with training experience (classroom or on-the-job), or a minimum of a High School Diploma with 4 years of directly related experience.
  • Demonstrated skill in developing, implementing, or evaluating training programs; ability to evaluate content, accuracy, and clarity of training materials and student evaluations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to convey ideas, policies, and procedures clearly; customer service oriented in classroom and non-classroom settings.
  • Ability to analyze needs, manage change, and foster a positive environment among instructors; establish rapport with diverse stakeholders; maintain current computer knowledge applicable to the training section.
  • Ability to follow instructions, work independently to complete assignments, and meet deadlines; sound judgment in evaluating instructors and providing constructive feedback.
  • Technical and safety awareness relevant to Transmission & Distribution operations; experience as an instructor (classroom or on-the-job) is desirable.
