Job summary

The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a Digital Imaging Specialist to provide advanced microscopy and histology imaging support in a on-campus laboratory setting. The role includes running whole slide imaging, operating scanners, and performing post-scanning quality checks to ensure data integrity.

Responsibilities also cover interaction with scanning vendors, troubleshooting software/hardware issues, and managing data entry, storage, and archival within LIMS in accordance with lab workflows.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required, minimum 2 years in histology imaging or related field.
  • Experience with whole slide imaging (WSI) scanners and digital pathology workflows preferred.
  • Proficiency in data entry, archival processes and data integrity is essential.
  • Ability to troubleshoot imaging software and hardware issues and coordinate with vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and optimize manual and automated digital microscopy systems for imaging tasks.
  • Perform quality assurance on scanned images and ensure data integrity.
  • Upload and archive slide images in LIMS as per lab workflow.
  • Collect and organize experimental data and assist with manuscript-related analyses.
  • Maintain and calibrate imaging hardware to ensure regulatory compliance and reliability.
