Job summary

Stellantis seeks an Advanced Controls Lead Engineer to spearhead propulsion control strategy design for conventional and electrified powertrains. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Controls, Systems Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering or related degree
  • Minimum 5 years of total experience
  • Demonstrated ability in control algorithm development methodologies including virtual co-simulation tools
  • Effective experienced based or analytical problem solving ability
  • Demonstrated technical leadership on propulsion system control & calibration development projects
  • Ability to improve Stellantis technical knowledge and competency (mentoring and training)
  • Sustained level of achievement/performance (5 years with a satisfactory performance and leadership rating)
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and teamwork

Responsibilities

  • Lead design and implementation of propulsion control strategies for conventional and electrified propulsion systems.
  • Own complete system development from design to in-vehicle prototyping and testing.
  • Provide strategic and technical leadership including developing new processes and methodologies.

Job description

Stellantis’ Propulsion Controls Engineering Department is seeking an Advanced Controls Lead Engineer to lead the design and implementation of cutting edge controls solutions for next generation propulsion system technologies. Our team is looking for a highly qualified and motivated candidate who can lead the complete system development of propulsion control strategies for conventional and electified propulsion systems, delivering results with meaningful impacts on our product. They must enjoy working on complex cross disciplinary problems and must be comfortable being involved with every step of development from design to in‑vehicle prototyping and testing.

The Lead Engineer is responsible for providing strategic and technical leadership including developing new processes & methodologies. The candidate must be experienced in propulsion control state of the art technologies, including but not limited to the areas of engine, transmission, and electrified powertrains with experience in control system design, calibration, and testing. The candidate must be a strong team player, systems focused with interdisciplinary experience & expertise, and willing to work in fast paced environment. The Lead Engineer is responsible for both individual technical project deliverables as well as mentoring and guiding colleagues, coordinating activities, and bringing projects to successful conclusions.

Basic Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Controls, Systems Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering or related degree

Preferred Requirements
  • Master's degree or higher in a propulsion related field or control related field
  • Experience using detailed physics based plant models for complex problem solving
  • Knowledge of propulsion control system architecture/best practices
  • Experience with model-based development tools such as MATLAB/SIMULINK
  • Experience with 0-D and 1-D physical modeling tools such as GT Power
  • Experience with rapid prototype controllers
  • Demonstrated strong knowledge in propulsion system controls/calibration through published papers and awarded patents
  • Specialization in classical and modern control disciplines with propulsion systems application
