Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Microsoft applications and basic networking.

  • Identify vulnerabilities across IT assets and apply patching/remediation fixes.
  • Assist in developing IT infrastructure and work on projects to improve IT effectiveness.

The Advanced Concepts & Technologies Group is looking for candidates who are excited to work on challenging problems and join our team. The group develops technology to protect and enhance the effectiveness of our deployed sailors, soldiers, and assets while enabling operations in a rapidly evolving complex threat environment. The group's research and development activities include architecture and concept design, advanced algorithms development, software and hardware prototyping, experimental field-testing, and data analysis. Our team focuses on creating new capabilities through analysis of critical problems leading to rapid prototyping of software and hardware. Of particular interest to the group is the development of concepts to address key national problems through advanced electronic warfare systems prototypes, advanced sensors prototypes, novel signal processing techniques, mathematical optimization approaches, and artificial intelligence to enable the development of next generation systems for fleet and surface assets. Selected candidate will be subject to a pre-employment background investigation and must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret level DoD security clearance.

Job Description

Group 39 is seeking a co-op candidate who will provide complete IT hardware/software support for 70+ users.

Responsibilities
  • Complete operating system installations and troubleshooting for Windows 11, Windows Server, and Linux (Red Hat and Ubuntu).
  • Configure and maintain network infrastructure within the LAN between Windows and UNIX/Linux as well as connections to the LAN from remote locations.
  • Assist staff members in day-to-day issues: troubleshooting hardware, software and network problems both on and off-site.
  • Identify vulnerabilities across all IT assets and apply patching and other fixes for remediation.
  • Assist in developing our growing IT infrastructure. Work on existing projects and help develop new projects aimed at improving the group's IT effectiveness and efficiency.
Requirements
  • Currently enrolled in accredited Computer Science/Computer Engineering/Networking/IT Degree program.
  • Must be knowledgeable of various operating systems: Windows 11, Windows Server, Mac OS X, and Linux (Red Hat, Ubuntu, etc.).
  • Understanding of virtualization concepts;basic experience working with various hypervisors.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft application software, as well as other application software, and should have a basic understanding of computer networking.
Compensation

Technical co-op rate: $25 - $32 per hour (based on year in school)
