Job summary

MIT Lincoln Laboratory's Enterprise Collaboration, AI, and Web Services (ECAWS) team invites a Fall 2026 co-op to help design and develop web interfaces and APIs for enterprise applications. You will work under a mentor to support updates, testing, and documentation across the software life cycle.

As part of ECAWS, you will gain hands-on experience with Drupal, Atlassian tools, Linux/Apache, and cloud technologies (AWS/Azure) while contributing to knowledge base maintenance and security

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in CS/SE/Data Science or related field.
  • Interest in AI-enabled applications, web development, and integration.
  • Ability to collaborate in a structured, mission-driven team.
  • Audit systems for security vulnerabilities and harden systems.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing Drupal content and modules and upgrade application software.
  • Assist with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence) and related add-ons.
  • Meet standards for accuracy, thoroughness, and correctness in all work.
  • Understand Linux and Apache; exposure to cloud technologies (AWS/Azure).
  • Understand the LAMP stack and its implementation would be desirable.
  • Update and organize knowledge base articles.

Enterprise Collaboration & Web Services Co-op (Fall 2026) - Group 11-80

Our Enterprise Collaboration, AI, and Web Services (ECAWS) Team provides web application and collaboration solutions in support of the Laboratory’s technical mission and its day-to-day operations. These solutions include intranet and collaboration tools, document management systems (such as SharePoint), and web application development. ECAWS supports the external website, Atlassian tools (Confluence and Jira), eForms, and enterprise search. The team also enables others to create Drupal websites, designs user experiences, and develops websites both internally and externally (for conferences). ECAWS provides application integration with web services for many existing and new business applications. Additionally, ECAWS integrates new technology capabilities, such as generative artificial intelligence (AI), enabling Laboratory personnel to be more effective and efficient.

Position Description

The Co-op is part of the ECAWS team and will assist other developers on the team in the design and development of web interfaces and APIs for based applications. Working within established development standards and best practices, the co-op will support updates, testing, issue resolution, and documentation efforts across the software development life cycle.

Seeking a qualified co-op candidate to support the ECAWS AI development effort between September – December 2026.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in managing content management systems like Drupal and the modules. This includes help supporting and upgrading application level software and pre-requisites, researching modern capabilities and documenting the tasks working with a mentor.
  • Assist in managing applications like Atlassian software suite (JIRA, Confluence and the dependant add-ons)
  • Meet expected standards such as accuracy, thoroughness, and correctness in all assigned work
  • Some understanding with Linux and Apache is necessary
  • Some understanding of the cloud technologies using AWS or Azure cloud
  • Understanding of the LAMP(Linux, Apache, Mysql and PHP) stack and how it is implemented would be desirable
  • Ability to update and organize knowledge base articles.
Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related field
  • Interest in AI-enabled applications, web development, and application integration
  • Work with Team members to update existing Knowledge Base to reflect current operating practices and create a single portal where team can access consistent and dynamic information.
  • Audit systems for security vulnerabilites and harden systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a structured, mission-driven team environment

This co-op role offers hands-on experience enterprise applications while working alongside other ECAWS co-op roles, providing meaningful exposure to standards-driven development practices and real-world IT solutions.

Compensation for 2026

  • Technical Co-Op: $25-$32 per hour (based on year in school)

Selected candidate will be subject to a pre-employment background investigation and must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret level DoD security clearance.
