Job summary

BWX Technologies, Inc. in Oak Ridge, Tennessee is seeking a skilled Machinist to set up, operate, and maintain CNC equipment to produce precision components for highly technical applications.

The role requires experience with G-code, CAM software (Mastercam), GD&T, and reading detailed blueprints. On-site work, strong attention to detail, teamwork, and the ability to obtain security clearance are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of CNC machining experience.
• Strong knowledge of CNC machinery, tooling, and precision measurement instruments.
• Experience with Fanuc or Siemens CNC controls and CAM software (Mastercam).
• Ability to read blueprints and interpret GD&T.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, drills, grinders and related equipment.
• Install workholding, input tool offsets and compensations.
• Read blueprints and 3D models with GD&T applying.
• Use G-code and Mastercam for part setups and first-article runs.
• Document setups, tooling, speeds, feeds and fixture positions.
• Perform first-article machining and adjust offsets to meet tolerances.
• Conduct in-process inspections and maintain dimensional accuracy.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshoot issues.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.
