Job summary

Smith & Wesson, Springfield, MA, seeks a skilled CNC Machinist to fabricate pistol, revolver, and rifle components. Operate CNC machines, set up equipment, and perform advanced production tasks with strict adherence to safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities include loading feeds, verifying settings, maintaining logs, and collaborating with other floor staff to meet schedules while reducing waste and reworks. Requires 1–3 years of related experience and CNC certification preferred.

Qualifications

• CNC Certification preferred
• Knowledge of CNC controls (Fanuc, Yaznac, Mazak, Okuma)
• Experience running CNC vertical and horizontal milling with 4 and 5 axes, and lathes with 7 and 9 axes
• Experience with off-line tool setter (Parlec helpful)
• Ability to interpret CMM reports and adjust CNC accordingly
• Knowledge of SPC and adjusting machines to a chart
• Math skills matching machining environment
• Strong verbal and written English communication
• Basic computer skills

Responsibilities

• Perform general/intermediate machinist duties
• Set up CNC equipment
• Load feed mechanism
• Verify settings and adjust CNC
• Maintain safe operations and preventive maintenance
• Manage a co-worker as needed
• Operate 6–10 CNC machines
• Document production and quality logs
• Coordinate with supervisors to meet production schedules
• Collaborate with Quality Control to ensure high quality
