Job summary

Eldora Mountain Resort is seeking an Advanced Care Patroller to provide ALS care and transport for injured guests, and to lead safety and medical trainings for patrol staff. You will maintain mountain signage and enforce policies, while serving as a visible safety presence across the hill.

The role emphasizes mentoring BLS patrollers and expanding operational knowledge, with weekend/holiday requirements. Ideal candidates hold EMT-P or similar advanced certification and a high school diploma, and

Job Summary:

The primary responsibility of Advanced Care Patrollers is to provide ALS care to sick or injured guests. In addition to this all Eldora Ski Patrollers are responsible for care and transport of injured guests and emergency response within the ski area. Patrollers are expected to model exceptional risk management and safety practices, to educate guests on appropriate skiing and riding, enforce Eldora policies if necessary and to contribute to the safe and efficient operation of the ski area. ACP 1's are expected to focus on becoming proficient at basic patrol skills and procedures. They should be working towards expanding their operational knowledge and skill set. They should be observant of any potential hazards or deviations from operational norms and raise these to Patrol leadership. They are expected to provide emergency medicine mentorship and training to BLS patrollers on an informal basis and may be asked to lead or assist formal trainings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leads by example for all company safety policies and procedures, actively contributing to and reinforcing a safe working environment for self, coworkers, work crews, and guests.
  • All employees are expected to support Eldora's corporate responsibility commitment to protect the environment by participating in the Sustainable Transportation Program. This includes choosing alternative transportation, carpooling, using the employee shuttle, and avoiding onsite parking on weekends and peak days. These actions help reduce Scope 3 emissions , lead by example, and ensure adequate parking for guests.
  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays as required by resort operations.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to move safely and efficiently on foot, ski/snowboard, or snowmobile across mountainous terrain in a winter environment while carrying equipment that occasionally exceeds 50 pounds or pulling/dragging equipment that occasionally exceeds 100 pounds.

Can work outside while standing or skiing in a high alpine, wintery environment for up to 10 hours

Able to lift 10-25 pounds 2/3rds of the time or more, able to lift 50 pounds 1/3 to 2/3rds of the time, able to lift 100 pounds up to 1/3rd of the time

Can perform the following activities constantly: walking, using hands to grasp/feel, reaching with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk or hear

Vision Requirements: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus

Ability to operate a snowmobile, including necessary vision, hearing, fine and gross motor skills

Withstand high altitude conditions at all times
