Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System in Saint Joseph seeks a Cardiac Sonographer to perform comprehensive cardiovascular ultrasound exams, including echocardiograms and vascular studies. You will assess patient history, perform exams, and collaborate with physicians to ensure diagnostic quality.

Responsibilities include stress echo procedures, TEE infection control, data organization, and on-call coverage as needed.

Qualifications

• High school graduate.
• 1+ years of cardiovascular ultrasound clinical experience as a Registered Cardiac and Vascular Sonographer, including stress echo procedures.
• BLS or BCLS certification; RDCS/RCS or RVT/RVS licensure where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Obtains patient history and verifies exam orders against history/indication, and clarifies with the physician as needed.
• Ensures patient safety and comfort during procedures.
• Performs routine and complex cardiac ultrasound procedures including echocardiograms and stress echocardiograms (treadmill, dobutamine, bicycle).
• Performs vascular imaging (carotid duplex, upper/lower limbs, abdominal aorta, renal, venous insufficiency, vein mapping).
• Assists with TEE imaging and post-procedure cleaning/disinfection.
• Provides on-call echocardiographic services under cardiologist direction.
• Organizes data for interpretation and communicates critical values promptly.
• Participates in quality improvement and peer review activities.
• Supports patient flow and assists with education of students and residents.

High School Graduate

1+ years of cardiovascular ultrasound clinical experience as a Registered Cardiac and Vascular Sonographer

Graduate of a CAAHEP; JRC-DMS program in cardiac ultrasound

Graduate of programmatically accredited program in cardiac ultrasound/echocardiography

Graduate of Diploma/Associate/Baccalaureate in Health Science (CV tech/ultrasound/radiologic tech/respiratory or nursing)

Training or certification in IV and UEA contrast administration

BLS or BCLS - American Heart Association

Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) - ARDMS

Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) - CCI

Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) - ARDMS

Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) - CCI
