Job summary

Port City Veterinary Referral Hospital in Portsmouth, NH seeks a Certified Veterinary Technician with anesthesia experience for a full-time role. You will provide safe anesthetic care across surgeries and emergency cases, with structured training and mentorship to develop anesthesia skills.

Qualifications

• Current Certified Veterinary Technician license in New Hampshire required.
• Graduate of an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technology program.
• Minimum 3 years of Veterinary Technician experience in a clinical setting.
• Strong foundational nursing skills: venipuncture, IV catheter placement, restraint, medication administration, patient care.
• Fluent English speaking and reading skills.

Responsibilities

• Safely induce, maintain, monitor, and recover anesthetized patients.
• Review patient history, diagnostics, and anesthetic plans prior to procedures.
• Calculate and administer anesthetic medications, CRIs, and supportive therapies.
• Monitor anesthesia with advanced equipment and respond to changes.
• Maintain accurate anesthetic and treatment records.
• Collaborate with surgeons, specialists, and nursing staff.
• Assist with advanced procedures including orthopedic and neurosurgery, imaging, and interventional procedures.
• Provide postoperative nursing care and pain management.
