A Day in the Life

Job Description: Should Costing – Mechanical

Work Location: Remote

Responsibilities
  1. Attend daily team meetings and weekly tier management meetings.
  2. Deliver timely should cost models to customers, maintaining service levels.
  3. Lead scoping calls, project updates, and communicate results with customers, typically category managers or sourcing engineers.
  4. Recommend strategies to close cost gaps with customers on major cost drivers.
  5. Participate actively in negotiations with suppliers.
  6. Maintain documentation to integrate cost model data into overall Cost Analytics.
  7. Work flexibly during US office hours, including late evenings.
Must Have Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial & Production, Operations, or related fields.
  • 4 to 7 years of experience, including 2 to 3 years in cost modeling/should costing.
  • Knowledge of injection molding, machined parts, packaging, etc.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and engineering drawings.
  • Ability to comprehend manufacturing and quality requirements of medical devices.
  • Strong interaction skills with internal and external teams.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Effective time management and professionalism.
  • Interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Ability to coordinate across global teams and functions.
  • Proficiency in reading 2D and 3D drawings, preferably with Creo CAD software.
Nice to Haves
  • Experience with should cost analysis software/tools like aPriori, McKinsey Cleansheet, etc.
  • Experience in product development and design iteration.
  • Skills in supplier pricing/costing analysis and cost reduction planning.
  • Knowledge of value analysis and value engineering.
  • Familiarity with analytics and reporting tools such as Power BI, SharePoint, SQL.
  • Ability to work independently, manage timelines, and adapt to changing priorities.
