Advance Medical Support Assistant Specialty and Primary Care (PACT) Outpatient Clinic

Join to apply for the Advance Medical Support Assistant (AMSA) - Specialty and Primary Care (PACT) role at VA Detroit.

Summary: This vacancy is for an Advanced Medical Support Assistant (AMSA) in the Hampton VA Healthcare System, located at the Virginia Beach Clinic.

Duties include:

  • Scheduling, canceling, and rescheduling patient appointments and consults, including imaging studies.
  • Entering no-show information daily and preparing clinic visit materials.
  • Monitoring inpatient and outpatient appointments and ensuring encounter forms are completed for workload credit.
  • Verifying and updating demographic and insurance information.
  • Participating in team meetings, supporting operational and clinical workflows, and assisting with patient communication.
  • Using MS Word and other office automation tools for documentation and correspondence.
  • Providing telephone support for scheduling and inquiries.

Work Schedule: 7:30am-4:00pm or 8:00am-4:30pm, Monday-Friday.

Requirements:
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Proficiency in English.
  • Background/security investigation required.
  • Participation in seasonal influenza vaccination program.
Qualifications:

Basic Requirements:

  • Six months of clerical or administrative experience OR one year of education above high school OR an equivalent combination.

Experience/Education Combination: Qualifying for entry-level; certification not required.

Grade Level: GS-6, with experience equivalent to GS-5 and above.

Physical Requirements:

Some physical exertion, including walking, standing, twisting, bending, and lifting up to 30 lbs.
