Job summary

Saint Alphonsus Health System in Boise, Idaho seeks an Advanced Sterile Compounding Tech. This role supports pharmacists by performing sterile compounding in accordance with USP standards and regulatory requirements.

Under supervision, you will work in the IV room, handle hazardous materials, supervise technicians, and help maintain accurate documentation and EMR workflows to ensure safe, high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a pharmacy technician.
• Minimum of 2 years of sterile compounding experience.
• Licensed as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Idaho State Board of Pharmacy.
• Pass the PTCB Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam or accepted national certification program within 90 days from hire.
• Completed competencies in sterile compounding, including hazardous compounding.

Responsibilities

• Knows, understands, and demonstrates the Organization's Mission, Vision, and Values in daily work.
• Work in the IV room, including high risk/hazardous compounding.
• Advanced understanding of current USP standards, documentation, and EMR compounding workflows.
• Provides some functional supervision of technicians.
• Ensures required departmental functions are completed to provide effective and efficient service.
• Assists the pharmacist in preparing medications, including material resource management, dispensing, clerical, and billing duties.
• Precepting duties for new hires and technician students.
• Mentors technicians in learning new tasks.
• Models exactness in sterile procedure and aseptic technique.

You will enjoy 7 consecutive days off a week! This position provides a 7 on/off nights' shift.

SUMMARY:

Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, assists in the provision of pharmaceutical compounded products to various customers by complying with Federal, State, and U.S. Pharmacopeia requirements. This role is preserved for pharmacy technicians whose primary function is to perform sterile compounding . Practices within the scope of state and federal regulations.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a pharmacy technician required.

• Minimum of 2 ( 2 ) years of sterile compounding experience required.

• Licensed as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Idaho State Board of Pharmacy

• Pass the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam or accepted national certification program within 90 days from hire.

• Completed competencies in sterile compounding, including hazardous compounding.
