Hancock County Public Library in Indiana is seeking a part-time Library Assistant to support circulation and clerical functions for library patrons. The role includes a 25-hour workweek with weekend rotation (Fri 8-1 or 1-6 alternating with one weekend every 4th week) and a pay rate of $13 per hour.
The position involves greeting patrons, assisting with the ILS, processing holds, registering patrons for programs, handling fines, answering phones, and maintaining organized collections.
This position is primarily responsible for performing circulation and clerical functions to serve the library’s patrons in a friendly manner and to maintain circulation of the library’s various materials.
Is responsible for accurate handling of payment transactions and maintains confidentiality.
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
High school diploma or High School Equivalency (HSE). Must have a valid U.S. driver’s license.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of: Microsoft Office Suite 2013 or newer; Comfortable with the IE, Firefox and Chrome as well as basic knowledge of email; Basic computer troubleshooting skills are a plus; Mobile Devices including eReaders and basic RFID and material sorting equipment.
