Job description

Adult Services Librarian, Abbot Public Library (Marblehead)

The Town of Marblehead is in search of an experienced, full-time Adult Services Librarian to join the team at the newly renovated Abbot Public Library. This role entails:

Assisting patrons with library resources
Responding to reference inquiries
Providing reader’s advisory services
Managing interlibrary loan services
Overseeing specific collection areas
Creating engaging displays, booklists, and finding aids to promote collections
Planning, executing, and evaluating programs for adults
Troubleshooting copiers, printers, and computers
Taking on additional responsibilities as assigned

The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to nurture cooperative and friendly working relationships with the public, colleagues, and supervisors. The main objective of this position is to develop and promote library resources and programming tailored to meet the needs of adults within our community.

This full-time position consists of 37.5 hours per week, including some evenings and one weekend in four.

Qualifications

MLS degree (from ALA-accredited institution preferred), with three to five years of related experience.
