- Job Summary
Loudoun County Public Library (LCPL) is seeking to fill a full-time Adult Services Librarian position at Sterling Library. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, service-minded, community-oriented, and a collaborative life-long learner who embraces the public library's primary role of promoting the joy of reading and learning in the community. As members of an enthusiastic team, Librarians provide direct customer service in reference, reader's advisory, programming and circulation functions, as well as assist customers in the use of library resources and technologies. Librarians plan and lead programs for children, teen and adult audiences and conduct outreach to create partnerships with schools and other community organizations.
The successful candidate will be a passionate, creative team player with excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills. Must possess strong multi-tasking, organizational and technology skills. All staff work in a collaborative environment with other staff to complete daily tasks, conduct programs and coordinate outreach. LCPL provides services seven (7) days a week including Friday and Saturday evenings. Work schedules vary and include weekends, evenings and holidays.
Hiring salary is commensurate with experience.
- Minimum Qualifications
Requires completion of a master's degree in library science from an American Library Association accredited school and six (6) months of related library experience.
Experience with Microsoft Office products preferred. Spanish/English bilingual skills strongly preferred.
- Job Contingencies and Special Requirements
Successful candidates will undergo background checks as required. Notary Public License may be required within one year of hire date. Passport Acceptance Agent certification required within one year of hire date. Work requires the ability to push or pull wheeled carts weighing up to 200 pounds. Some bending, reaching, walking and standing required. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds required.
