Location

The City and County of Denver supports a hybrid workplace model. Employees work where needed, at a job site several days a week and off-site as needed. Employees must work within the state of Colorado on their off-site days.

What You’ll Do

Our employees help children, at-risk adults, families, and individuals navigate social and economic pressures by connecting them to services and experts who support their overall well-being. Denver Human Services is seeking a dedicated and experienced Social Case Worker Supervisor to lead a team within the Adult Protective Services (APS) program. The APS program responds to allegations of suspected mistreatment and self-neglect of at-risk adults, 18 years and older, with disabling conditions that make it difficult to meet their own safety and wellness needs. APS investigates these allegations, assesses risk and safety needs and works with at-risk adults to identify and access available services in the community to help improve overall health, safety and welfare. In this role, you will lead a team of social caseworkers to successfully work with clients in our community by cultivating networks, helping build assessment and investigation skills, connecting to partner agencies, coaching and developing, and providing technical assistance with application and adherence to city and state rules and regulations. APS consistently seeks to find new and innovative ways to develop programming that promotes, maintains, and improves safety for at-risk adults in Denver while preserving and prioritizing the principles of self-determination and least restrictive intervention.

The APS Social Case Worker Supervisor in this role will:

• Directly supervises up to 6 social and senior social caseworkers
• Be responsible for ensuring that all staff have a solid understanding of casework practices, safety and risk assessment, and interviewing techniques
• Participate as a member of the APS leadership team and develops APS internal policies and procedures associated with practice change and process improvement
• Ensure APS program compliance in meeting Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS) performance standards in the Colorado Adult Protective System (CAPS)
• Collaborate with community partners to address and resolve issues impacting at-risk adults in Denver
• Participate in assigned community initiatives and special projects to enhance service delivery for at-risk adult clients
• Collaborate with internal and external partners
• Performs other duties as assigned

Required Minimum Qualifications

Education requirement: Requirements as set forth in Colorado Department of Human Services Volume 7 and/or Volume 30 regulations. Bachelor's Degree from a higher education institution with course work related to the job responsibilities of child welfare or adult protective services social caseworker. Course work examples can include and are not limited to, the development of human behavior, child development, family intervention techniques, diagnostic measures, social work, sociology, psychology, psychiatry, gerontology, nursing, special education, guidance and counseling, criminal justice, or other human behavioral sciences or therapeutic techniques.

Experience Requirement: Requirements as set forth in Colorado Department of Human Services Volume 7 and/or Volume 30 regulations.

Education/Experience Equivalency: No substitution of experience for education is permitted. Additional appropriate education may be substituted for experience requirements.

Licensure: Requires a valid Driver’s License at the time of application. Requires certification as a social case worker supervisor in Child Welfare or Adult Protective Services in accordance with CDHS regulations. Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment.
