Job summary

The Marlene Meyerson Jewish Community Center Manhattan is seeking an Adult Program Manager to lead strategic coordination and day-to-day operations for our adult programs, including CORE and Route 21+. The role balances creativity, structure, and community engagement to meet the needs of adults with I/DD.

You will work with the Director of Adult Programming and Inclusion Services to develop programs, support onboarding, track outcomes, and expand inclusive opportunities that foster independence,

Job description

The Marlene Meyerson Jewish Community Center in Manhattan is looking for an Adult Program Manager to join our team! The Adult Program Manager is responsible for the strategic coordination and day-to-day operations of our growing adult programs within The Jack and Shirley Silver Center for Diverse Abilities.

This role requires a balance of creativity, structure, and community engagement to ensure programming meets the needs of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), including those with moderate and high support needs. The position plays a key role in sustaining the strength and impact of the CORE program while helping to expand the Route 21+ program from a pilot cohort into a multi-day, weekly offering that supports meaningful adult engagement, skill building, and community connection.

Working closely with and reporting to the Director of Adult Programming and Inclusion Services, the Adult Program Manager will have a clinical lens in supporting the intake process for new families within these cohorts. They will also focus, alongside adult programming staff, to further program development, participant engagement, staff and intern coordination, and administrative systems that ensure programs are organized, responsive, and impactful. The role will also contribute to expanding accessible program opportunities that promote independence, social belonging, and lifelong learning for adults with disabilities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and manage programming that may include social, recreational, life-skills, cultural, and community-based (outings) activities. Support the continued growth and success of these programs through thoughtful planning, coordination with facilitators, and participant engagement.
  • Ensure programming promotes social connection and community belonging, skill development and independence, engagement with the broader JCC community, and opportunities for creativity, learning, and recreation.
  • Collaborate with the adult programming team to identify gaps in services and develop new program offerings for adults requiring higher levels of support.
  • Track program attendance, participant engagement, and program feedback to inform ongoing program development and evaluation.
  • Coordinate logistics for programs including room reservations, transportation planning (as applicable), vendor coordination, and staff coverage.
  • Oversee discovery process for new families and conduct clinically based intakes to support individuals in assimilating into the program.
  • In partnership with the adult programming team, assist in planning community-wide events, outings, and special experiences for participants.
  • Develop strong relationships with program participants and their families, ensuring participants feel welcomed, supported, and connected within the community.
  • Support participant onboarding and integration into programs, working collaboratively with the adult programming team to understand support needs and appropriate program placement.
  • Maintain regular communication with participants and caregivers regarding program schedules, expectations, and updates. Direct outreach to individuals' support team (therapists, coaches, family members, etc.) when necessary.
  • Provide in-the-moment support during programming to help participants navigate social dynamics, emotional regulation, and accessibility needs. Utilize crisis management skills when needed.
  • Help cultivate a community culture that values respect, inclusion, belonging, and participant strengths.
  • Support the supervision and coordination of part-time staff and social work interns involved in CORE and Route 21+ programming.
  • Assist with staff task delegation, program coverage, and scheduling. Provide guidance to interns and staff in inclusive facilitation practices and participant support.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Adult Programming and Inclusion Services on training opportunities for staff and interns working with adults with disabilities.
  • Maintain and update internal program management systems to ensure accurate scheduling, participant registration, and program tracking.
  • Assist in creating targeted program communications including weekly program updates, monthly newsletters, and reminders to participants and caregivers.
  • Ensure program information is organized, accessible, and up to date across internal systems and communications platforms. Track participation data and assist with program reporting to support program sustainability and growth.
  • Lead or support several programs per week, modeling inclusive facilitation practices and participant engagement.
  • Applicants are required to attend in person programming including on Sundays when applicable.
  • Serve as a key point of contact during programs, ensuring a positive and supportive experience for participants. Step in to support programming when staff or interns are absent.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Special Education, Psychology, Recreation Therapy, Disability Studies, or a related field.
  • Clinical experience working with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Experience coordinating programs, community initiatives, or recreational programming.
  • Experience supervising facilitators, part-time staff, interns, and volunteers.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple programs and logistical details simultaneously.
  • Comfort working both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Work Schedule: This role is in office 5 days a week in the Upper West Side.

Salary Range: The position offers an annual salary of $75,000.
