Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient cardiology consultations across El Paso-area hospitals.

• Coordinate pre-surgical clearances and discharge planning.
• Order/interpret diagnostic studies and manage cardiovascular meds.
• Document thoroughly in the hospital EMR and participate in on-call coverage.

We’re hiring a Cardiology Acute Care Nurse PractitionerPart-Time /Contract for Inpatient Consults Across El Paso or a Full-Time Hybrid Role including Inpatients/Outpatients/Research. Requirements

• Provide inpatient cardiology consultations and follow-up care across El Paso-area hospitals.
• Assess, diagnose, and manage patients with acute and complex cardiovascular conditions.
• Provide pre-surgical clearances
• Obtain patient histories, perform physical examinations, and develop evidence-based treatment plans in collaboration with the supervising cardiologist.
• Order and interpret diagnostic studies, including laboratory testing, electrocardiograms, echocardiograms, and cardiac imaging.
• Manage cardiovascular medications and monitor patients’ responses to treatment.
• Collaborate with hospitalists, nursing teams, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, and post-discharge care.
• Complete timely and accurate documentation within each hospital’s electronic medical record system.
• Support discharge planning, follow-up coordination, and transitions of care.
• Participate in clinical research activities, including identifying potential participants and supporting study-related clinical procedures.
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies, clinical protocols, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Participate in rotating call, weekend, or holiday coverage as agreed upon.

Qualifications

• Acute-care or hospital inpatient experience
• Comfortable managing patients with acute cardiovascular conditions
• Conversational Spanish preferred
• Strong clinical judgment and communication skills

Education and Experience

• NP degree required from a U.S. accredited Nurse Practitioner Program.
• Active Board Certification is required.
• Current and Active license to practice in the U.S.
• 1 or more years of healthcare experience in a U.S. community practice setting, including in cardiovascular disease management.
