Job summary

Livingston Parish Library seeks an Adult Literacy Specialist to organize, plan, develop, and operate Adult Literacy and ESL programs. The role includes interviewing and training volunteers, coordinating with ESL staff, and tutoring students across all library locations.

The position requires a bachelor’s degree, tutoring/teaching experience, and flexibility to work some evenings and weekends, with travel to multiple library locations in Livingston Parish.

Responsibilities

• Strengthen the system-wide Adult Literacy Program.
• Interview and train Adult Literacy volunteers.
• Coordinate ESL and Adult Literacy programs with ESL Specialist/Coordinator.
• Conduct tutoring sessions and teach monthly ESL classes.
• Monitor student progress and maintain confidential files.
• Manage budget for Adult Literacy and ESL supplies.
