Job summary

Compass Health Center in Chicago’s North Center area is seeking a Family Therapist to join a multi-disciplinary team. You will conduct family sessions with adults and their loved ones, provide education and support, and promote collaboration within the program.

The role emphasizes crisis care, discharge planning, and coordination with the treatment team. A Master’s degree in psychology or related field and licensure (PhD, PsyD, LCSW, LCPC preferred) are required or strongly preferred.

Qualifications

• Psychologist or Master’s level therapist required.
• Licensure in the field preferred (PhD, PsyD, LCSW, LCPC).
• 1+ years clinical work experience post‑Master’s is strongly preferred.
• Experience with CBT and DBT, and with family therapy.

Responsibilities

• Conduct family sessions with adults and their loved ones.
• Provide guidance to promote goals and progress in the program.
• Coordinate with the treatment team and participate in rounds.
• Deliver psychoeducation about substance use to families.
• Provide couples therapy and crisis support as needed.
• Document progress in the EMR and contribute to program meetings.

Patients and their families rely on CompassHealth Center whenincrisis – every day, wehelp people overcome depression, anxiety, suicidality, obsessions/compulsions, trauma, chronic pain, and other obstacles in order for our patients to live freely.

About This Role

Our Family Therapists play a key role in our multi-disciplinary teams and work to ensure synergy across treatment. As a Family Therapist, you’ll conduct family sessions with patients and their loved ones that will aim at providing support, offering education, and promoting collaboration. If your passion is helping those who are working to support our patients, you would be a great addition toour team.

Our centrally located Chicago office is nestled in the vibrant neighborhood of North Center, not to mention the social events hosted on our fully furnished rooftop!

What You’ll Do

• Facilitating family sessions to a caseload of assigned adult patients and their loved ones
• Providing guidance and support to patients and family members to help promote goals and encourage patients progress through the program.
• Providing direction to families about effective ways of supporting patients. Discussion topics and family therapy goals include safety plans, incorporating skill implementation, improving communication, creating contracts.
• Providing loved ones with psychoeducation about substance use
• Provides couples’ therapy for patients and their partners
• Works with various presenting issues including depression, anxiety, psychosis, substance abuse
• Assisting in supporting families through phone coaching and follow-up calls.
• Supporting patients in crisis.
• Coordinating with the treatment team. This involves attending rounds and other program meetings regularly as well as using the electronic systems of communication.
• Communicating with outside providers conducting family therapy for continuity of care.
• Collaborating with the treatment team in assessing the patient’s progress and need for higher level of care, stepdown, or discharge.
• Helping the family to coordinate an effective discharge plan.
• Providing individual support to patients as needed.
• Contributing clinical observations and insights during interdisciplinary meetings.
• Charting progress of patients appropriately in the electronic medical record.
• Participating in program meetings as needed.Working on projects focused on program improvement and the overall growth and development of Compass.

Who You Are

• Are a Psychologist or Master’s level therapist (required)
• Hold one of the following licenses: PhD, PsyD, LCSW, or LCPC (preferred)
• 1+ years clinical work experience post-Master’s (strongly preferred)
• Have knowledge and experience utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), as well as other evidenced-based therapies, ideally in the context of delivering family therapy
• Have experience with patients in crisis, ideally prior experience working in partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, inpatient hospital, or residential setting

Compensation

$55,000 — $90,000 USD
