Job summary

Compass Health Center is seeking a Family Therapist to work within a multidisciplinary team, conducting family sessions with youth and their families. You will promote safety, education, and collaboration, guiding patients toward goals and progress.

The role emphasizes crisis response, program coordination, and documentation in the electronic medical record; you will participate in rounds and meetings to support continuity of care.

Qualifications

• Must be a Psychologist or Master’s level therapist.
• Licensure: PhD, PsyD, LCSW, or LCPC preferred.
• 1+ years post-Master’s clinical experience preferred.
• Experience with CBT, DBT, and other evidence-based therapies.
• Experience with patients in crisis and various settings.

Job description

Weekly outpatient therapy isn't always enough, and a trip to the ER isn't the only answer. Patients and their families rely on CompassHealth Center whenincrisis - every day, wehelp people overcome depression, anxiety, suicidality, obsessions/compulsions, trauma, chronic pain, and other obstacles in order for our patients to live freely.

About This Role

Our Family Therapists play a key role in our multi-disciplinary teams and work to ensure synergy across treatment. As a Family Therapist, you’ll conduct family sessions with patients and their loved ones that will aim at providing support, offering education, and promoting collaboration. If your passion is helping those who are working to support our patients, you would be a great addition to our team.

Our location in Northbrook is our first and largest facility, and consists not only of our widest variety of programs, but also serves as a pilot site for many of our new treatment offerings.

What You'll Do:

• Facilitating family sessions to a caseload of assigned child and adolescent patients (ages 10-18) and their loved ones.
• Providing guidance and support to patients and family members to help promote goals and encourage patients progress through the program.
• Providing direction to families about effective ways of supporting patients. Discussion topics and family therapy goals include safety plans, incorporating skill implementation, improving communication, creating contracts.
• Works with various presenting issues including depression, anxiety, psychosis.
• Assisting in supporting families through phone coaching and follow-up calls.
• Supporting patients in crisis.
• Coordinating with the treatment team. This involves attending rounds and other program meetings regularly as well as using the electronic systems of communication.
• Communicating with outside providers conducting family therapy for continuity of care.
• Collaborating with the treatment team in assessing the patient’s progress and need for higher level of care, stepdown, or discharge.
• Helping the family to coordinate an effective discharge plan.
• Providing individual support to patients as needed.
• Contributing clinical observations and insights during interdisciplinary meetings.
• Charting progress of patients appropriately in the electronic medical record.
• Participating in program meetings as needed.
• Working on projects focused on program improvement and the overall growth and development of Compass.
• Participating in a weekly family therapy meeting.

Who You Are:

• Are a Psychologist or Master’s level therapist (required)
• Hold one of the following licenses: PhD, PsyD, LCSW, or LCPC (preferred)
• 1+ years clinical work experience post-Master’s (strongly preferred)
• Have knowledge and experience utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), as well as other evidenced-based therapies
• Have experience with patients in crisis, ideally prior experience working in partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, inpatient hospital, or residential setting

$55,000 - $90,000 USD
