Adult Educator – Spanish Language Arts (Part Time)

Malcolm X College is seeking a part‑time Adult Educator – Spanish Language Arts for the Adult Education Department. The position involves teaching Language Arts to adult students and supporting them in achieving Student Learning Outcomes.

Essential Duties

• Provides Language Arts instruction that supports students in meeting the Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) for the course.
• Uses CCC Adult Education core materials and Brightspace LMS.
• Customizes instruction with supplemental materials as appropriate.
• Uses the CCC Adult Education course master syllabus to customize the syllabus for each class.
• Shares and discusses syllabi with students to ensure understanding of course expectations.
• Conducts formal and informal assessments to measure student progress toward SLOs and adjusts instruction based on ongoing assessments.
• Takes attendance, monitors enrollment and retention, submits grades, and records information in the student system.
• Complies with ICCB professional development requirements, including completing 12 required PD hours each fiscal year.
• Assists with program registration and orientation as requested.
• Attends and participates in staff development, program staff meetings, and professional development as required.
• Keeps abreast of state and federal rules and regulations regarding Adult Education policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited college or university required; preferably in Adult Education, Education, Elementary or Secondary Education, English, and/or Reading.
• Master’s Degree preferred in a related subject such as Adult Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Policy, Elementary or Secondary Education, English, Literacy Studies, Reading, or Teaching.
• International degree(s) evaluated by a certified provider.
• Teaching and/or tutoring experience.
• Completion of a satisfactory teaching demonstration for the hiring committee may be required at time of interview.
• Completion of ICCB ESL Standards Proficient Instructor Training within the second year of hire.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook).

Additional Information

Salary: $36.47 per hour.
