Job summary

Great Rivers Adult Education Consortium teachers work within classrooms delivering required core content in all Adult Basic Education Programming. Teachers must be knowledgeable of the needs and goals of students from a wide range of countries, cultures, educational levels, and English language levels.

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS include teaching designated curriculum, collaborating with district staff, providing instruction for GED/ESL, and supporting community connections.

Qualifications

• Minnesota Teaching License is required.
• Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field.
• Experience teaching core subjects in multi-level classrooms.
• Prompt, regular and reliable attendance.
• Proficient with email, Microsoft Word, Google Docs, and district data systems.
• Strong verbal and written communication; welcoming interactions.
• Valid driver’s license with insured vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Teach designated curriculum as required by Adult Basic Education Standards.
• Collaborate with district staff and partners to provide resources to adult students and families.
• Provide instruction for GED, ESL, literacy and numeracy, including digital literacy and college/career prep.
• Create opportunities for students to connect with the community and assist with post-tests on-site.
• Record attendance accurately and report data.
• Adapt teaching methods to meet varied needs and abilities.
• Observe and evaluate student progress and provide improvement guidance.
• Work with co-teachers, volunteers and students one-on-one.
• Attend training and professional development for ABE.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
