Job summary

Southern Maryland Tri-County Community Action Committee Inc. seeks an Adult Education Instructor to deliver literacy and workforce readiness within the Road to Careers program, contextualized for construction and transportation fields.

You will develop lesson plans and use adult learning strategies to support student outcomes. Responsibilities include delivering reading, writing, math, and digital literacy, collaborating with program staff, administering assessments, and maintaining records.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Education, Adult Education, English, Mathematics, or related field preferred.
Maryland Department of Labor-approved Adult Education Instructor certification required.
Minimum of 2 years teaching adult learners, GED, or workforce-based literacy/numeracy preferred.

Responsibilities

Create a safe, supportive adult learning environment.
Deliver instruction in reading, writing, mathematics, digital literacy, workforce readiness, and college transitions.
Develop lesson plans and instructional materials aligned with program outcomes.
Utilize effective adult learning strategies and differentiated instruction.
Collaborate with Program Coordinator, Lead Instructor, faculty, and support staff.
Administer approved assessments and evaluate student progress.
Use data to individualize instructions.
Maintain accurate records of attendance, instructional hours, assessments, and student outcomes.
Perform other duties as assigned.
