Kent ISD Adult Education - Wyoming Campus in Wyoming, Michigan seeks a part-time ESL instructor for a temporary role. Work primarily on-site with local employers, schedule Mon–Thu 1:30pm–3:30pm, 2 hours per day, 182 days per year. Compensation is $35.00/hour and the position is not benefits-eligible.

Required is a Michigan teaching certificate; ESL endorsements are preferred. Strong collaboration with staff and accurate record-keeping are essential.

Schedule: Monday-Thursday afternoons, 1:30pm until 3:30pm

QUALIFICATIONS:

• CurrentMichigan teaching certificate.
• ESL endorsements preferred
• Demonstrated ability to work well with teaching staff.
• Must keep accurate records.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Meet onsite at local business partners’ facilities to instruct adult students on material needed in
  order to become proficient in the English language.
• Assess students' readiness to take exams.
• Create lesson plans and modify accordingly throughout the year.
• Maintain grade book and attendance log.
• Grade papers and perform other administrative duties as needed.
• Create projects designed to enhance lectures.
• Read and stay abreast of current topics in adult education.
• Utilize various curriculum resources.
• Integrate competencies, goals, and objectives into lesson plans.
• Utilize curricula that reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the
  students served.
• Develop incentives to keep participants in class.
• Develop professional relationships with other agencies and programs.
• Work with program administration to ensure initiatives are being met.
• Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
• Prepare and distribute required reports.
• Observe and evaluate student's performance.
