JCC Greater Boston in Newton is seeking an Adult Class & Workshop Instructor to teach adults in their subject of expertise, adhering to safety policies and communicating with the manager about any relevant matters.
This is a limited part-time, +/- 1-10 hours per week, non-exempt position offering a great work environment, perks, and a competitive starting pay rate. Pay will be determined by qualifications and internal equity.
Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Arts & Ideas, the Adult Class & Workshop Instructor will instruct adults in their subject of expertise, adhering to all relevant safety policies and protocols of JCC Greater Boston and communicate with manager and/or other designated employees directly about any relevant matters.

Primary responsibilities include, and are not limited to:
Own the quality and consistency of the learning experience, from planning through in-room delivery.
Foster a welcoming environment where students feel welcomed, informed, and connected to the class and to each other.
Keep accurate records and maintain reliable, timely communication with JCC staff and supervisors so the class is well executed and runs smoothly behind the scenes, building a positive reputation.

Requires a bachelor’s degree and minimum of 2 years’ teaching, tutoring, or facilitation experience with adult learners, leading workshops in a group/class environment and must demonstrate expertise in subject matter being taught with credentials meeting current industry standards.
Preferred Premium Experience: significant industry experience (typically 5–10+ years) combined with demonstrated professional standing, reputation, and a track record of work in the field.
Must meet the minimum subject-area credentials as set by the industry standards for the specific discipline being taught. Examples by discipline type:
Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted at the JCC’s discretion to meetthe minimum hiring criteria.
Able to work well in-person in a busy, dynamic, and sometimes noisy environment. Ability to set up and break down classroom materials, which may include light lifting (up to 25 lbs). Ability to stand, move around the classroom, and demonstrate techniques as needed for the subject taught.
Individuals must possess these criteria for knowledge, skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation and using some other combination of skills and abilities.
