Job summary

Snap Inc. in the United States seeks a Senior Principal Software Engineer to lead the technical direction for Ads Quality within the Ads Platform, focusing on Ads Marketplace.

You will shape multi-year strategy across bidding, pacing, auctions, inventory and ad reranking. You will collaborate with engineering, product, data science and ML teams to improve advertiser performance and sustainable revenue while preserving a relevant, engaging Snap experience for Snapchatters.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years of post-Bachelor software development experience; or 10+ years with a Master’s; or 7+ years with a PhD.
• 3+ years of experience providing technical leadership or serving as a domain expert for a technical organization.
• Experience setting technical direction and leading complex engineering initiatives across multiple teams.
• Experience architecting, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Set multi-year strategy and architecture for Ads Marketplace.
• Design and scale bidding, budgeting, and pacing algorithms.
• Advance auction mechanisms and allocation algorithms.
• Lead inventory and traffic optimization across Snapchat surfaces.
• Develop ad reranking and slate optimization approaches.
• Establish evaluation methods and experimentation standards.
• Lead complex initiatives across teams and mentor engineers.
• Raise the engineering bar for reliability, latency, and cost efficiency.
