Job summary

Discord is seeking a Senior Data Engineer focused on the advertising data stack to shape the technical vision for ML-enabled ads data pipelines. You will own core data models, build batch and near real-time pipelines, and mentor engineers across Data Science, ML Engineering, and Product teams.

You will work with MMP integrations and attribution data, ensuring data quality at scale, while collaborating with cross-functional partners to drive data-driven decisions that impact revenue and product

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience writing production code and architecting data pipelines with high-volume consumer data in advertising technology domains.
• Deep expertise in digital advertising data engineering including ads delivery, conversion measurement, attribution pipelines, or ML feature data infrastructure.
• Experience building data models in a greenfield or 0-to-1 environment where requirements change frequently and architectural decisions are made with incomplete information.
• Expert-level SQL and Python with production-quality pipeline code.
• Data quality audits, monitoring systems, and automated anomaly detection for massive-scale datasets (billions+ rows).
• Strong technical communication skills to drive alignment and adoption across stakeholders.
• Collaborative mindset with Data Science, ML Engineering, Ads Product, and GTM teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and own core ads data models for delivery, measurement, targeting, attribution, and ML use cases.
• Build and maintain ML data enabling ads ranking, delivery, and targeting with feature development and training workflows.
• Integrate third-party attribution data (MMPs) and ensure data parity across surfaces.
• Develop batch and near real‑time data pipelines across the ads ecosystem with low latency for ML and reporting.
• Create data quality frameworks and monitoring systems for large-scale pipelines.
• Identify foundational data infrastructure gaps and design scalable canonical solutions.
• Architect greenfield data systems balancing short-term delivery with long-term viability.
• Align Data Science, ML Eng, Ads Product, and GTM through clear narratives linking data decisions to revenue.
• Mentor engineers through code/design reviews and ownership of complex projects.
