Job Overview
The Apprentice assists in providing a high level of technical support for their assigned business unit. This includes understanding and documenting the business processes, reporting and analysis of data, working on projects, improving business processes using available tools, and more.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Assists the department with technical issues.
- Works on tasks as assigned by leadership.
- Assists team in streamlining business processes using technology.
- Documents business processes, reviews inefficiencies, and makes recommendations for improvement to supervisor.
- Learns University systems and data sets to accurately extract information.
- Adheres to Liberty University policies, represents the University professionally.
- Works effectively as a team member, fostering LU’s Christian model and Mission.
- Analyzes workflow issues and data integrity problems, provides recommendations on resolution and advises management.
- Conducts and leads projects to transform clients’ business processes via collection, processing, and visualization of data.
- Documents and optimizes business processes by researching industry best practices and supporting solution development.
- Develops a deep understanding of core business processes and uses data and analytics needs and gaps.
- Utilizes diagnostic, predictive and prescriptive analysis to derive business insights that increase revenue, decrease cost, or mitigate risk.
- Summarizes and describes raw data sets for departmental use.
- Supports validation processes to ensure data accuracy.
- Analyzes data to align with organizational goals and relays business impacts through data‑driven recommendations.
- Collaborates closely with business units and provides expert input on functional business topics.
- Streamlines processes by leveraging technology, including application and reporting development, while adhering to internal standards.
- Provides operational support to assigned business units’ systems, including technical assistance.
- Provides regular updates to customers on process improvement and new technology activities, maintaining a high level of customer service.

Qualifications and Credentials
- Working toward or holding a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- 1 year of SQL experience.
- Advanced Excel and Access experience.
- Effective verbal and written communication.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent computer and organizational skills.
- Valid driver’s license with minimum five years of documented driving history and clean record (if required).

Working Conditions
- Environment: On‑Campus / Hybrid / Remote (depending on the team).
- Driving: if required, personal vehicle or LU vehicles, valid driver’s license, DMV record, LU Driving Approval, liability insurance.
