The City of Richmond Department of Social Services Adoption Unit is seeking a highly qualified Family Services Specialist II to provide adoption services for children and families served by the City Department of Social Services. The anticipated hiring range is $60,320-$78,000.

The role focuses on eligibility for adoption subsidies, supportive counseling, case management, and referrals to prevent disruption, with data reporting responsibilities and potential emergency response duties as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services or related field with minimum experience in Human Services.
  • Experience in assigned program area and required training or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of state and local policies, regulations, and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Determine eligibility for adoption subsidy maintenance and services.
  • Provide supportive counseling to adoptive children and families.
  • Provide case management.
  • Make referrals for services to prevent adoption disruption in accordance with state and legal policies.
  • Monitor, review, and approve financial transactions within adoption subsidy policy guidelines.
  • Maintain data in computer system for administrative reporting purposes.
  • Participate in Mass Care Center operations during incidents or declared emergencies as needed.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
