Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services or related field.
• Two years of experience in child welfare, adoption, foster care or family services.
• Experience or willingness to complete SAFE home studies.
• Strong interviewing, assessment and report-writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct in-depth home study assessments for individuals or couples seeking to adopt.
• Interview prospective adoptive parents and household members to evaluate readiness.
• Review and verify documentation including background checks and medical evaluations.
• Assess home environments for emotional, physical and financial stability.
• Write comprehensive home study reports with recommendations for approval.
• Maintain ongoing communication with families through pre-adoption process.
• Collaborate with legal teams and placement coordinators for matching decisions.
• Provide support and referrals for pre-adoption training or resources.
