Job summary

Family Services NW PA is seeking an Adoption Caseworker in Erie County to provide direct services to clients and families within the Permanency Department. The role requires regular home visits, strong organizational, writing, and verbal skills, and day/evening hours.

Educational requirements include a Bachelor's degree in social sciences, with experience in social services or child welfare preferred. Travel across Erie County and nearby areas is required, and reliable transportation is

Responsibilities

  • Complete child and family profiles and recruitment.
  • Screen adoption applicants and supervise placements.
  • Prepare legal documents for hearings and testify at finalizations.
  • Perform on-call duties for crisis situations after hours on a rotating basis.
  • Maintain case records in a timely manner.
  • Participate in staff development and supervision.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

POSITION SUMMARY

The adoption caseworker provides direct service to clients and families in the Permanency Department. Worker is required to visit client's homes on a regular basis. Strong organizational, writing, and verbal skills are necessary. Day and evening hours required.

JOB DUTIES
  • Completes child and family profiles, child preparation services, child specific recruitment, child placement, and adoption finalizations.
  • Screens potential applicants for adoption. Provides supervision of adoption placements.
  • Prepares legal documents for adoption hearings and testifies at adoption finalizations.
  • Performs on-call duties for crisis situations after hours on a rotating basis to provide support to children and families.
  • Maintains case records in a timely manner as required in agency policy.
  • Participates in staff development activities, including individual and peer supervision.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in social sciences required.
  • Experience working in social services and/or the child welfare system preferred.
  • Travel throughout Erie County and surrounding counties required.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation.
