Job description

Richland Place is seeking an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to join our team!

The ADON will assist the Director of Nursing by providing continuity in administrative and managerial functions, including care delivery activities and staff training within the Nursing Department. The ideal candidate is a patient-focused Registered Nurse (RN) with leadership experience, excellent communication skills, dependability, flexibility, and a proven ability to lead a team. Prior Long Term Care and management experience, along with a stable work history, are highly preferred.

Responsibilities include:
  1. Job Knowledge and Capabilities:
    • Maintain clinical competency through nursing knowledge, leadership, and communication skills.
    • Utilize the nursing process for assessment, planning, and care implementation.
    • Organize workflow and prioritize to meet patient care needs.
    • Engage in continuous quality improvement and problem-solving.
  2. Quality Management:
    • Monitor patient status through daily rounds.
    • Coordinate and facilitate Patient Care Plan conferences.
    • Develop and implement rehabilitative nursing programs.
    • Ensure treatments and medications are administered as ordered.
    • Participate in patient and family conferences.
    • Ensure accurate documentation in medical records.
    • Complete Patient Assessment (MDS) forms timely and accurately.
    • Review MDS reports and take necessary actions.
    • Promote ongoing education and training for nursing staff.
    • Participate in Quality Improvement Committee and Level of Care meetings.
    • Report findings to physicians and team members.
  3. Operational Management:
    • Work collaboratively with management team members.
    • Assist in setting and achieving center goals.
    • Develop policies, procedures, and budgets for the nursing department.
    • Support staffing, recruitment, training, and evaluation processes.
    • Oversee department operations to ensure cost-effectiveness and quality care.
    • Promote positive staff relations and resolve conflicts effectively.
    • Ensure compliance with personnel policies and legal standards.
    • Assess supplies and maintain adequate inventory.
  4. Additional Responsibilities:
    • Participate in developing nursing standards, policies, and job descriptions.
    • Assist in budget planning and capital expenditure proposals.
    • Coordinate staffing schedules and staff development programs.
    • Support recruitment and onboarding of nursing personnel.
    • Collaborate with other departments and participate in management meetings.
    • Implement recommendations from consultants when appropriate.
