The role focuses on supervising residents, maintaining a therapeutic environment, and guiding staff through routines while adhering to policies and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Current and valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Minimum 1 year of experience working with vulnerable at-risk youth.
• Must have a High School diploma or two years of college.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care and supervision of residents in care.
• Maintain a therapeutic living environment for safe growth and development.
• Ensure staff ratios are maintained and fill shifts as needed.
• Support co-workers in all areas of residential care.
• Enforce rules, policies, and regulations of the milieu.
• Utilize crisis de-escalation and physical restraint interventions per policy.
• Model therapeutic behavior management for staff.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety in the milieu.
• Comply with emergency and crisis procedures and respond calmly.

What You’ll Do

Adolescent Treatment Team Leaders are responsible for providing direct care and supervision of the residents in care. Responsible for practicing professionalism while promoting and maintaining a therapeutic living environment conducive to the safe and healthy growth and development of the residents in care as well as making sure all routines are followed in the cottage.

As an ATW Team Leader, you will:

• Ensure a safe, therapeutic milieu by maintaining an active presence, providing support, role modeling, coaching, supervision, and guidance.
• Ensure that adequate staff ratios are maintained to meet the needs of all clients by appropriately filling in for shift(s) as needed.
• Provide support to co-workers in all areas of residential care as needed.
• Enforce rules, policies, and regulations of the therapeutic milieu.
• Utilize and oversee the proper use of crisis de-escalation interventions and physical restraining interventions in accordance with agency policy
• Serve as a role model demonstrating appropriate skills of therapeutic behavior management.
• Ensure that staff maintains a high standard of cleanliness and safety in the milieu.
• Comply with emergency and crisis intervention procedures and implements them in a calm and expedient manner.

Physical & Mental Requirements

Requires sitting, walking, standing, bending, stooping, crawling and stretching. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, copier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and vision to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports. Supporting therapeutic physical restraints of youth ages 12-17 to ensure safety. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 35 pounds. Requires some exposure to chemicals and solvents.

Must be able to establish priorities, work independently and to carry out decisions and tasks. Must be able to handle and resolve problems and make effective decisions. Must be able to remain patient with youth. Must be able to communicate effectively with others in a professional manner. Requires public contact and good interpersonal skills. Must be mentally adaptable and flexible in dealing with a variety of people, problem solving, attention to detail, evaluating and assessing situations, analyzing and forecasting and interpreting data.
