Job summary

Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health seeks a Recreation Specialist to design and implement recreational and social activities for children and adolescents in an inpatient setting. You will lead therapeutic groups aligned with treatment goals, using arts modalities to promote wellness and recovery.

The role requires at least three years’ related experience, a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, and strong organizational and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
• At least three years’ experience providing recreational and leisure activities.
• Proficient computer skills, mastery of Microsoft Office Applications, experience with data collection/analyzing platforms (Radar, Pro-Filer, and/or other internal and external software applications pertinent to the position).
• Strong organizational skills and excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license must be maintained.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates and assesses client’s current level of functioning and assigns groups based on treatment goals and cognitive functioning.
• Facilitates a minimum of 3 groups daily and records progress.
• Maintains inventory for STAR mall, manages supplies and equipment, and schedules events.
• Collaborates with program supports to ensure activities are therapeutic and appropriate.
