Job summary

UNC Health is seeking a Behavioral Health Technician to join the Youth Behavioral Health inpatient unit in Butner, NC. The role involves working on a pediatric unit within a multidisciplinary team to support adolescents with developmental disabilities and psychiatric needs on a 36-hour week schedule.

You will participate in admissions, provide direct patient care, conduct group sessions, and help implement the care plan for assigned patients under supervision of an RN.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Aids patients in reality orientation and implements behavior modification plans.
• Interviews patients and families for admission data and assists in developing therapeutic plans.
• Facilitates groups and one-to-one activities to encourage participation and progress.
• Observes and documents patient information and reports changes to RN/physician.
• Provides personal care and daily living assistance per care plans; monitors vital signs and progress.
• Assists with safety, restraint as needed, and reinforces teaching from nurses.
