Job summary

UNC Health Care is hiring a Behavioral Health Technician for the Youth Behavioral Health Hospital in Butner, NC. You will work on 4YBH, a 10-bed unit for pediatric patients with developmental disabilities, providing a safe, therapeutic environment and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

The role requires a CNA I credential, CPI within 60 days, and BLS; schedule includes 12-hour shifts, rotating days/nights with weekends, and orientation in Chapel Hill.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• One year of experience in a behavioral health environment.
• Nursing Assistant I certification recognized by NC DHHS.
• CPI certification within 60 days from date of hire.
• BLS Certification.

Responsibilities

• Aids patients in reality orientation, participates in behavior modification plans, and provides de-escalation as needed.
• Assists in interviewing patients and families for routine admission data and orients them to the facility.
• Interacts with patients one-to-one and in groups, facilitating activities to encourage participation.
• Observes, collects, and documents patient information and reports significant changes to the RN or physician.
• Provides direct personal care and assists with activities of daily living per the plan of care.
• Provides protection and control for patient safety and may participate in restraints when necessary.
• Reinforces routine teaching and distributes patient education materials.
