  • Support students in building executive‑functioning skills, organization, planning, and academic independence.
  • Develop engaging, project‑based math and science learning experiences.
  • Incorporate hands‑on science, laboratory work, environmental studies, and field experiences.
  • Support students in completing portfolio‑based credit review work aligned with Tennessee graduation requirements.
  • Use assessment data and observation to identify student needs and provide intervention/support.
Advisory & Student Support
  • Serve as advisor for a small group of adolescent students.
  • Build strong relationships with students and families.
  • Support student goal‑setting, progress monitoring, internships, and community involvement.
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding academic and social‑emotional growth.
  • Collaborate with administration and support staff regarding student needs.
Community & Program Responsibilities
  • Participate in student trips, outdoor experiences, and community events.
  • Support occupations, micro‑economy projects, entrepreneurship, and experiential learning opportunities.
  • Collaborate closely with the Adolescent team and broader school community.
  • Contribute to maintaining a prepared environment rooted in Montessori values, respect, and responsibility.
  • Participate in professional development, reflection, and ongoing program growth.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Strong mathematics background required.
  • Experience teaching adolescents in grades 7–12 preferred.
  • Experience with project‑based, experiential, alternative, or Montessori education preferred.
  • Experience supporting neurodivergent learners and students with executive‑functioning challenges strongly preferred.
  • Montessori adolescent credential (AMI, AMS, or MACTE) preferred; willingness to pursue Montessori training required.
  • Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
  • Collaborative, reflective, and growth‑oriented mindset.
Characteristics for Success
  • Calm, relational, and emotionally grounded.
  • Flexible and adaptive thinker.
  • Strong classroom leadership skills.
  • Comfortable working with mixed‑age groups and varied academic readiness.
  • Loves nature, experiential learning, and community‑centered education.
  • Able to balance structure with creativity.
  • Warm, confident, and able to maintain clear boundaries with adolescents.
  • Sense of humor, humility, and willingness to grow.
