Job summary

El Paso County Department of Human Services seeks a child welfare leader to supervise a unit of caseworkers serving adolescents and families. You will balance priorities, promote safety and well‑being, and guide complex decisions while developing staff and strengthening teamwork.

The role requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently with collaboration. A hybrid schedule is available after probation and occasional on‑call duties may apply.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of child protection laws, rules, and regulations.
• Working knowledge of intake and ongoing processes, procedures, and protocol.
• Working knowledge of Department of Human Services programs and protocol.
• Ability to plan, schedule, and organize.
• Ability to guide, supervise, and train others; evaluate performance.

Responsibilities

• Supervises assigned caseworkers, staff, and administrative support, conducting meetings and assigning duties.
• Communicates unit mission and monitors workflow; assigns cases, assessments, and services.
• Leads staffing and consultations; discusses cases, treatment plans, and performance with staff.
• Leads weekly unit meetings and participates in DHS administrative planning and decisions.
• Participates in case-related staffing, court hearings, and family meetings; recommends case plans.
• Ensures compliance with laws, rules, and regulations; reviews case plans.
