Job summary

The New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute is seeking a Psychiatric Technician to support care on multiple hospital units. You will assist patients with daily needs and help maintain a safe, therapeutic environment.

Responsibilities include helping with ADLs, de-escalation in crises, monitoring patients, and communicating observations to the treatment team to ensure coordinated care. This role requires attention to safety, HIPAA compliance, and collaboration with nursing staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma and 1 year relevant experience, or equivalent education/experience.
• Experience with behavioral health populations.
• Experience assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs).
• Experience in healthcare or treatment teams.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including feeding, bathing, and attending activities.
• Assist in crisis situations and help de-escalate patients who may be symptomatic or agitated.
• Monitor patients and conduct checks at identified intervals, including one-to-one.
• Provide feedback to the nursing staff and treatment team regarding observed symptoms.
• Ensure the environment is clean and comfortable for all patients.
