Job summary

Virginia Oncology Associates in Newport News is seeking an Admixture Tech for a full-time, in-person role. You will prepare medication orders under physician supervision, verify orders, and ensure proper handling of IV medications and disposal per procedures.

Responsibilities include inventory control, data entry, insurance checks, and ordering supplies. Requires a HS diploma, 3–5 years pharmacy IV experience, IV cert preferred, and willingness to travel between offices.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Three to five years' experience in a pharmacy with IV skills preferred.
• IV certification strongly preferred.
• Experience with Lynx, Epic, Pyxis, Omnicell preferred.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician certificate or State Pharmacy Board preferred.
• Willing to travel between offices as needed.

• Prepares medication orders by admixing medications under physician supervision and calculates dosage volumes.
• Checks orders for completeness, verifies patient information and physician authorization.
• Checks orders for insurance approval before admixing.
• Disposes materials properly and cleans hood as required; logs drugs and monitors outdates.
• Maintains medication control documentation and inventory control.
• Performs data entry into admixture systems and orders medication and supplies.

Compensation Range: $17.10 - $36.76. Actual pay is determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, education, credentials, skills, internal equity, and business needs.

Responsibilities

• Prepares medication orders by admixing medications under the supervision of a physician, calculating correct dosage volumes
• Checks all orders for completeness of information, verifies patient information and proper physician authorization
• Checks all orders for insurance approval before admixing
• Properly disposes all materials used when mixing chemo or non-chemo IVs. Cleans hood daily or as stated in policy and procedures
• Logs and dates all drugs being used. Checks drugs for monthly outdate and other quality assurance activities as assigned.
• Maintains proper control documentation of medications. Completes inventory control of medications
• Performs efficient data entry into systems used by admixture.
• Orders medication and supplies as directed
