Job summary

Tenet Healthcare is seeking an Admitting Representative for day shift on a Per Diem basis. The role greets patients, collects demographic and financial data, and coordinates registration and insurance verification to support timely billing.

Required are hospital registration experience and Medicare/Medicaid knowledge; bilingual Spanish is preferred. The position entails weekend/holiday availability and handling confidential information at a busy hospital front desk.

Qualifications

• Basic computer skills required.
• 3-5 years of recent experience in acute care hospital registration or business office.
• Knowledge of Medicare, Medi-Cal and third party billing and collection procedures.
• Experience or knowledge in admissions, registrations and insurance verification is essential.
• Spanish language skills preferred.
• Medical terminology knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and visitors in person or on the phone and collect demographic, financial and medical information for registration.
• Coordinate and assist in completing activities related to patient finances and billing processes.
• Request and collect patient liabilities such as co-payments, deductibles and co-insurance.
• Monitor and expedite necessary authorizations for ER, outpatient services or elective surgeries.
• Serve as a resource and liaison for department staff and other hospital personnel.
• Maintain confidentiality of personal, medical and financial information.

The Admitting Representative greets patients and visitors in person or on the telephone; obtains demographic, financial and medical information for registration and identification, coordinates and assists in the completion of all activities relating to patients finances, facilitates the collection and distribution of information and expedites a smooth and timely billing and collection process while adhering to department policies and procedures.

Requests and collects any patient liabilities due such as, co-payment, deductibles, co-insurance and compact rates and follows the department scripting for assigned area.

Monitors and expedites the necessary authorizations and approvals for hospital emergency room, outpatient service or elective surgeries per the designated insurance carriers.

Acts as a resource and liaison for employees within the department, as well as other inter-related hospital staff and all "guests" that need assistance or information.

Basic computer skills

• High School diploma or equivalent
• 3 - 5 years recent experience in acute care hospital registration or business office environment
• Knowledge of Medicare, Medi-Cal and third party billing and collection procedures
• Experience or knowledge in admissions, registrations and insurance verification's is essential

• Ability to speak Spanish / Bi-lingual - preferred
• Medical Terminology - preferred
