Job description

The UAF Office of Admissions is immediately recruiting for enthusiastic and dependable students to serve as Student Ambassadors. Applicants must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours, be in good academic standing, and demonstrate strong communication and customer service skills. Preference will be given to students who are passionate about sharing their UAF experience and who are comfortable speaking with diverse audiences in a professional, public-facing environment. Please see the Job Duties below.

This is an in-office, student employment position with flexible scheduling during the academic year. Employment is term-based with the opportunity to continue in future semesters, dependent on performance, departmental needs, and funding. Work hours (10–20 per week) will be determined in agreement between the student and the Admissions supervisor to accommodate class schedules.

The ideal candidate will be dependable, friendly, and confident speaking with individuals and groups. Strong communication skills, initiative, professionalism, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment are essential. Candidates should be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team while maintaining a positive attitude.

Successful Ambassadors demonstrate enthusiasm for UAF, strong customer service skills, time management abilities, and a commitment to representing the university with pride.

Successful candidates will demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills, confidence in public speaking, and the ability to engage diverse audiences in a friendly and professional manner. Ambassadors should be dependable, organized, and able to manage time effectively while balancing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Strong customer service skills, teamwork, problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and basic proficiency with email, Google Workspace, and office technology are essential, along with a positive attitude and enthusiasm for representing UAF.

This position is located on the University of Alaska campus in Fairbanks.This is a part-time, student assistant position, starting rate of $20.00/hr.
