Job summary

Tower Behavioral Health in Reading, PA is expanding its nursing team and seeks Registered Nurses (RNs) to join our state-of-the-art Psych-Safe facility. We offer inpatient and outpatient programs, with flexible 3x12hr shifts and weekend rotations.

New grads welcome; compensation ranges from $41–$50 per hour including shift differential. Benefits include medical/dental/vision, 401(k), tuition assistance, and professional training on-site.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing required.
  • One or more years’ nursing experience within clinical area of service provided by facility preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assess physical and behavioral health needs; develop and implement nursing care plans.
  • Maintain medical records and educate patients and families about conditions.
  • Provide nursing care within state regulations and facility policies.
  • Ensure physician orders are legible and transcribed per policy.
  • Monitor patient status and document pertinent information.
  • Collaborate to meet patients' biopsychosocial needs and resolve complaints.
  • Notify physician of significant changes in status or emergencies.
  • Ensure care plans are specific and completed on admission.
  • Utilize universal precautions in direct patient care.
  • Administer medications and document controlled substances accurately.
  • Complete admission and discharge processes efficiently.
  • Maintain therapeutic rapport and professional boundaries.
  • Coordinate unit activities as directed.
  • Communicate professionally with patients, visitors, and staff.

We are growing and want you to grow with us! Tower Behavioral Health (TBH) is seeking passionate Registered Nurses (RN) to join our nursing team. Come be a part of our state of the art Psych-Safe facility, with spacious outdoor courtyards, indoor gymnasiums, and an herb garden.

Located on a serene, partially wooded parcel on the west side of Route 183 in Reading, PA.

TBH provides services to adults, adolescents, and seniors. The facility offers inpatient and outpatient programs, counseling, treatment for substance use disorders and other services.

Compensation

Compensation for roles at Tower Behavioral Health varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the role and level of experience.

Salary range

$41 - $50 / hour (Including shift differential)

Purpose Statement

Responsible for providing professional nursing care to patients with a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude to foster a supportive and therapeutic environment. Recognize that patient safety is a top priority.

Essential Functions
  • Provide and coordinate care by assessing physical and behavioral health needs of patient, develop and implement nursing care plans, maintain medical records and educate patients and their families about various physical and behavioral health conditions.
  • Provide nursing care and services within the standards and scope of nursing practice as defined within the state Nurse Practice Act regulations, policies, procedures and protocols, as well as facility and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Ensure physician’s orders are legible if taken verbally and transcribed appropriately per policy and procedure.
  • Ensure patient’s status is assessed on an ongoing basis and pertinent information gathered is documented.
  • Collaborate with others to ensure that all patients’ physical, biopsychosocial, age, developmental and cultural needs are met and when they are not met, acknowledges and works to resolve customer complaints.
  • Notify physician of significant changes in status such as difficulties with detox, medical emergency or change in medical status regarding response to medications, etc.
  • Ensure nursing treatment plans are specific to assessed needs and initial treatment plan is completed upon admission.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and utilization of universal precautions in providing direct patient care.
  • Accurately administer medications per ordered note and document accurate count of controlled substance medication administration on required documents.
  • Responsible for completing admission and discharge processed efficiently and accurately as directed.
  • Exhibit therapeutic rapport with patients by maintaining professional boundaries, being respectful to personal space, giving patient direct attention and maintaining rational detachment.
  • Provide direction or coordinate the activities of the unit as directed.
  • Communicate therapeutically and professionally with patients, visitors, coworkers and others involved in patient treatment in an effective manner.
Other Functions
  • Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.
Education/Experience/Skill Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing required.
  • One or more years’ nursing experience within clinical area of service provided by facility preferred.
Licenses/Designations/Certifications
  • Current RN license as required by state.
  • CPR and de-escalation and restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
  • First aid may be required based on state or facility requirements.
