Job summary

Southeast Behavioral Hospital seeks an Intake RN to perform telephonic and in-person risk assessments and coordinate admissions for patients requiring behavioral health services. You will collaborate with referral sources, families, and unit staff to ensure timely and appropriate care.

Under the Intake Director, you’ll interface with the Business Office for financial verification and with the UR Department for insurance certification, while upholding compliance and patient care standards.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.
• 2–3 years in substance abuse/psychiatric treatment; intake/admissions experience preferred.
• Licensed to practice by Missouri State Board of Nursing.
• CPR certification, Handle with Care and Verbal De-Escalation training within 30 days of employment; pass a competency exam; may work flexible hours including weekends/overtime.

Responsibilities

• Provide telephonic and in-person risk assessment to assist physician in determining level of care.
• Coordinate referral and intake process; facilitate admission; maintain communication with referral sources, families, patients, and unit staff.
• Collaborate with Business Office for patient financial data, verification, and insurance benefits; work with UR for certification of patients admitted.
