Full Time Day Sign on Bonus: $7,500

Full Time Night Sign on Bonus: $10,000

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our admissions team at Mount Carmel Behavioral Hospital. As an Admissions RN, you will play a crucial role in ensuring a smooth and efficient admissions process for our patients. Your clinical expertise, attention to detail, and ability to collaborate with various stakeholders will contribute to delivering high-quality care. Mount Carmel Behavioral Hospital is a renowned healthcare facility committed to providing exceptional mental health services to our community and in Intake and Admissions, you can make a real difference in the lives of our patients.

Available Shifts and Hours:

12-hour shifts, working every other weekend.

NIGHT shift 7p-7:30a

DAYS shift 7a-7:30p

Key Responsibilities:

1. Review medical documentation for all admissions, complete medication reconciliation, and obtain admission orders from physicians.
2. Facilitate emergency transfers for patients with medical conditions beyond our facility's capabilities.
3. Review referrals from hospitals, facilities, and community agencies, assessing medical and behavioral acuity and responding within designated timeframes.
4. Respond to inquiries about our facility, providing appropriate recommendations and information.
5. Conduct assessments to determine the appropriate level of care within our facility.
6. Collaborate with medical and psychiatric personnel to ensure appropriate recommendations and admissions.
7. Facilitate the admissions process, including assessment, consent, and inventory of patient belongings.
8. Perform insurance benefit verifications and secure initial pre-authorization for treatment and admission.
9. Monitor patient status throughout the admissions process, following facility policies and physician orders.
10. Utilize web-based programs to track and review referrals.
11. Communicate projected admissions promptly to designated internal representatives.
12. Ensure timely receipt of all clinical information, including medical comorbidity, from referral sources or patients.
13. Schedule and complete pre-admission assessments, consult with admitting physicians, and communicate disposition recommendations to patients or their families.
14. Prepare and maintain accurate medical record documentation to facilitate payor authorization at the requested level of care.
15. Complete initial pre-authorization for treatment and admission within payor timeframe guidelines.
16. Admit patients to the registration and accounting system, completing all necessary admission and consent forms.
17. Demonstrate a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude towards patients, prioritizing their safety and promptly addressing concerns or complaints.
18. Coordinate care for patients who are not being admitted, ensuring they receive appropriate follow-up care and referrals.
19. Conduct safety checks and provide supervision as required by special precautions and individualized guidelines.

Qualifications:

1. Minimum of an Associate's degree in Nursing.

Licenses/Designations/Certifications:

1. Clear and active nursing license in the state.
2. CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by the facility).
3. First aid certification may be required based on state or facility requirements.
