Job summary

Grand Valley State University in Allendale, MI seeks a Recruitment Officer to represent the university to prospective students, parents, counselors, and other organizations involved in the college selection process. The role manages a recruitment territory, builds partnerships, and leverages enrollment data to maintain active outreach and influence admission yield.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in customer service, recruitment, education, or related field.
• Strong cross-cultural skills.
• Strong presentation, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to remote locations and load/transport materials.
• Ability to work evening and weekend hours throughout the year, especially during the fall travel season.

• Participate in information sessions, open houses, and other recruitment events.
• Perform other duties as required by leadership.

This position will represent GVSU to prospective students, parents, secondary school counselors and other individuals or organizations involved in the college selection process. This position will manage assigned recruitment territory through prospect relationship management, leveraging partnerships, relationships, and admissions and enrollment data to maintain consistent recruitment activity, to increase prospective student interaction, and influence admission yield.

Primary Duties:

• Represent GVSU both on and off-campus to prospective students, parents, secondary school counselors, and other individuals or organizations involved in the college selection process.
• Advise prospective applicants on the admissions process, academic programs, support resources, and opportunities at the university through in-person and virtual appointments, small group presentations, phone calls, and emails.
• Manage assigned recruitment territory through prospect relationship management, leveraging partnerships, relationships, and admissions and enrollment data to maintain consistent recruitment activity, to increase prospective student interaction, and influence admission yield.
• Review materials submitted by applicants for the purposes of making admission decisions.
• Develop and implement recruitment and yield projects as assigned.
• Participate in information sessions, open houses, and other recruitment and yield events.
• Perform other duties as required/assigned by leadership.

Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities:

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in customer service, recruitment, education, sales, or related field.
• Strong cross-cultural skills.
• Strong presentation, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities:

• Higher education experience.
• Experience with customer relationship management systems (CRM).
• College/university admissions experience or experience working with middle school or high school audiences.
• Bilingual in Spanish.

Working Conditions:

• Monday through Friday, with evening and weekend work required throughout the year.
• Admissions recruitment occurs primarily by in-person appointments, but also by small group presentations, zoom appointments, phone calls and emails.
• Extensive travel is required.
